Hello! My name is Sarah Harris and I teach private piano lessons in San Diego county. My education includes a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in musicology. I completed the Music Teacher’s Association of California (MTAC) Certificate of Merit program in 2006 and began teaching in 2007. I am now a member of MTAC and am pleased to enter my students into annual recitals and programs hosted by the organization.
I tailor my pedagogical approach and select curriculum based on the individual learning style of each student. I specialize in both young beginners, who are just starting a musical education, and older adults, who are returning to lessons after a long break or wanting to learn a new skill in retirement. I aim to support and encourage each student, and take so much pride in helping students achieve their musical goals.
Types of Lessons Offered
I provide in-home lessons to accommodate busy schedules, and so you or your child will have the benefit of learning on your home instrument. Because I travel to each student, I primarily teach in the La Mesa, El Cajon, and Spring Valley neighborhoods.
Remote, online lessons are an excellent alternative to in-person lessons. GoogleDuo, FaceTime, and other video conferencing apps make distance learning more accessible than ever. If you haven't used these apps before, they are easy to learn and I am happy to help!
Recitals are held twice a year to celebrate the progress of each student. For students eager for more performance opportunities, MTAC offers additional music festivals and competitions throughout the year.
